Been listening to XJS V12 race car noises for the last half hour. Dammit, I will own one someday.

Holy crap, I was not expecting that. That was like finding out Nigella Lawson is a cabaret dancer. Damn it, now I want one.

at high revs, it sounds like an F1.

If a tiger and an eagle had a baby, this is what it would sound like.

But how? It’s a Jag, they didn’t do manuals. I don’t know what to believe any more. Either way, Discount V12 Vantage!

I know a guy here in New Hampshire that put an XJS race car engine and transmission in an XK.

You might have found this already but just in case you didn’t. There’s pretty epic clip of a TWR XJS setting a lap time that gave Tom Walkinshaw a pole position for Bathurst 1000 race in 1985.

Pre 1990 XJSs had a manual option for the straight-six only, 1990-96 you could get a manual V12.

There’s always “some guy in New Hampshire” who’s put X engine into Y car.

Those BIG Cats were very hard on brakes. So, Tom’s mechanics came up with an interesting idea - water cooling those front brakes. That’s why there is a plastic jerry can in the passanger compartment in this video, with ample supply of water for the sprint race.

Ha, in racing, if you are creative and the sanctioning body is OK with it, WHY NOT?
Remember those Audi RS6 4-door sedans in ALMS? They too came with auto gear boxes only. Yet they raced with manual gearboxes from the Ur-RS4, since those were the strongest manuals Audi produced.
